Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season ends and he figures to get a huge payday in the offseason.

Whether that payday comes from Steve Ballmer and LA is another discussion, however.

One NBA scout who spoke to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report believes the Clippers have a “real dilemma” with Harrell moving forward. According to the report, the 26-year-old big man could command “at least triple” of his current salary worth $6 million in the offseason, which doesn't bode well with the Clippers' plan to remain financially flexible.

It is worth noting that should the Clippers decide to keep Harrell, they could very well end up in the luxury tax.

“The Clippers have a real dilemma,” one Western Conference scout says. “Montrezl wants to get paid, but he does most of his damage against backups. If you already have Paul [George] and Kawhi [Leonard] on your books, can you pay him what he's going to want?”

Harrell is averaging 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists on the season for the Clippers off the bench. He’s shooting 56.8 percent from the field and 63.0 percent from the free-throw line.

NBA execs believe the Atlanta Hawks could be a summer destination for Harrell if things don't work out with LA.
