Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley disagrees with the popular opinion that the Los Angeles Lakers were the team to beat in the NBA before the season was suspended due to COVID-19.

Appearing on the NBA's Instagram Live feed, Beverley was asked if LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers are the team to beat. In typical Beverley fashion, the Clippers guard said “no” — though he pointed out that he “mean that with absolutely no disrespect.”

“No. I mean that with absolutely no disrespect. Not only to the Lakers organization, but any organization,” Patrick Beverley shared.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended, the Clippers were in second place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 44-20. Only the Lakers had a better record out West than the Clips, although Doc Rivers' squad was 2-1 against the LakeShow.

Kawhi Leonard was putting up 26.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in his first season back home with the Clippers after winning his second championship in 2018-19 with the Toronto Raptors.

Meanwhile, Paul George was averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 42 games. Both PG and Kawhi are L.A. natives and eager to bring the Clippers their first title in franchise history.

Basketball fans in Los Angeles are praying the 2019-20 season resumes in the summer. Fans also want the Lakers and Clippers to meet in the Western Conference Finals.

After all, a seven-game series featuring LeBron, Davis, Leonard and George would be exactly what NBA fans need after this long hiatus.
