L.A. Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley is expected to be “out for a while” after being sent back to Los Angeles to address right knee issues, according to Brad Turner of The Los Angeles Times.

Minutes after this report, ESPN's Adrian Wojnrowski reported that Beverley underwent a surgical procedures on his right knee and the immediate timetable for his return is unclear.

Beverley made his return against the New York Knicks, as the Clippers suffered a ninth straight loss — the 11th in the last 12 games.

The defensive hound has missed the last five games with knee issues and only played 22 minutes upon his return, with seven of his eight field goal attempts coming from deep — a clear sign that his knee has proven bothersome due to his lack of aggression around the rim.

The Clippers are also short of point guard Milos Teodosic, which will lead to some playing time for rookie Jawun Evans while Austin Rivers handles some of the point guard duties during his absence.

Beverley played and started in 67 games last season with the Houston Rockets, making 71 appearances in 2015-16. His absence will prove yet another hurdle to clear, as L.A. lacks another starter in Danilo Gallinari — putting that much more of the scoring burden on star forward Blake Griffin.

Lou Williams will likely start alongside Rivers as the backcourt tandem during Beverley's absence.
