Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley tried to checkmate Jared Dudley of the Los Angeles Lakers after the two players had different opinions on the implications stemming from the restart of the 2019-20 NBA season.

Beverley took to Twitter to respond to Dudley, who was reacting to a Tuesday report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Beverley argued that basketball is a year-round sport and that shouldn't have an effect on players' health. The Clippers point guard had his decent share of injuries this season, even with a full training camp under his belt.

Dudley was responding to Wojnarowski's tweet, which said non-guaranteed teams were more worried about losing players than those that have more-than-likely qualified for the postseason.

Dudley, who is in a unique situation playing for a championship contender, was worried the mere two weeks of full-court activities were simply not enough to warrant a sense of security against injuries.

The two players are in very different positions in their respective careers. Dudley is likely trying to stretch the last few years of his NBA run, while Beverley recently secured the bag this past summer, netting $40 million over three years.

Dudley, who signed for the minimum with the Lakers, could risk saying goodbye to the NBA for good if he suffers a major injury in Orlando — something many players have to consider by the end of the day.

Players will have until Wednesday to declare their participation in the Walt Disney World bubble or opt-out of the restart.
