The Los Angeles Clippers will be without guard Patrick Beverley on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Beverley re-injured his groin on Wednesday against the Miami Heat.

The Clippers are 36-15 on the season and in second place in the Western Conference standings.

Beverley has appeared in 40 games for the Clippers this season. The Chicago native is averaging 8.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 43.0 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 63.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Beverley re-signed with the Clippers this past offseason on a three-year deal worth $40 million. He has career averages of 9.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 420 games with the Houston Rockets and Clips.

Beverley also re-signed with Adidas on a new multi-year shoe deal in September. He doesn’t have a signature shoe with Adidas like Damian Lillard, James Harden and Derrick Rose, but he’s still one of the more high profile players to have an endorsement deal with the company.

Beverley is one of the best perimeter defenders in all of basketball and plays with tremendous passion and grit. With that said, one can say that he is the heart and soul of the Clippers.

For the first time in franchise history, the Clippers are legitimate title contenders with superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading the way. They are already 2-0 against LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers.
