L.A. Clippers point man Patrick Beverley has earned the reputation of a gritty defender and fierce competitor, even earning the nickname of “Mr. 94-feet” for his famed full-court pressure.

Yet he won't shy away from some of the offseason pettiness, expressing his distaste for the Golden State Warriors in a recent interview with Parth Upadhyaya of The Houston Chronicle.

Chronicle: What are some of your goals this upcoming season with the Clippers?

Beverley: “To make the playoffs. That’s the only goal.”

Chronicle: If the Rockets and Warriors meet again in the Western Conference Finals next season, who do you think will win?

Beverley: “Rockets. I’m real anti-Warriors. You could name anybody (against the Warriors), I’d probably say the other team.”

Beverley is yet another reason why the hashtag #pettywars still exists even in the offseason, but he has reason to feel the way he does, having been burned in two consecutive postseasons by the back-to-back champs.

The 6-foot-1 guard was out for the season in 2014-15 when his Houston Rockets were routed out of the playoffs 4-1 in the Western Conference Finals, only to return the next year, but see the same result — a 4-1 defeat, this time averaging only 5.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in the series, shooting a dismal 27 percent from the floor and 21 percent from deep.
