The Miami Heat made headlines on Wednesday night after they successfully acquired the services of three-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala from the Memphis Grizzlies. This was a clear indication from the Heat brass that they're extremely serious about their title bid this season, and the fact that they now appear to be in the final stages of also bringing in Danilo Gallinari from the Oklahoma City Thunder is further testament to this fact. Miami's landscape-shifting moves on Wednesday overshadowed what was a disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers made easy work of the Heat, scoring a 128-111 lopsided victory in the Staples Center. For his part, Clippers veteran guard Patrick Beverley made sure to remind everyone about how his team dominated the Heat, even taking a nasty jab at Miami superstar Jimmy Butler.

This is classic Pat Beverley here, adding salt to the wounds of Butler, who struggled mightily against Kawhi Leonard and company on Wednesday. Butler was actually forced to exit the game during the third quarter due to a shoulder injury, as he finished the game with just 11 points (on 3-of-7 shooting), five rebounds, seven assists, and a turnover in 26 minutes played.

Ironically, Beverley also sustained an injury against the Heat, with the 31-year-old tweaking his right groin. The feisty Clippers guard was only able to log 22 minutes, finishing with five points, one 3-pointer, five rebounds, two assists, and a block.

We're not sure how Butler will — if ever he chooses to — respond to Beverley's smack talk here, but what we are certain of is how excited the Miami swingman is about his squad's rest of the season outlook.
