Paul George was showered with boos upon his return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for an early-season matchup against his former team, the Indiana Pacers. Yet the Los Angeles Clippers star noted he isn't the one the fans should boo after his trade request back in the summer of 2017.

The two-way star hinted that there is much more than eyes let on when it comes to his reason to leave Indiana:

“You know, someday I'll do a tell-all and tell the leading events of how I left Indiana,” said George after a 110-99 win over his former team, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. “And I promise you, I'm not the one to boo.”

“… I'm not gonna share the teaser,” George later added. “… I like being the villain. I'm here two nights out of the year. The people they should boo is here a lot longer than I am.”

While this was George's third return to Indianapolis, he wasn't surprised to still hear these boos:

“I'm not surprised,” George said of the loud booing. “That's Indiana for you. It's a Hoosier thing.”

Head coach Doc Rivers was taken aback by the reception:

“Yeah, I was shocked,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said of the reaction George received. “I really was … I was ill-equipped.

“It was offensive to me,” Rivers added with a chuckle. “But I was unprepared for that. I thought that, I didn't know it was bad feelings and it was lingering. Obviously, it was.”

Paul George has scored 31 or more points against his former team in the last three games. His 36 points, nine rebounds, and five assists did all the talking on Monday, despite playing without frontcourt partner Kawhi Leonard.
