With the NBA being on the frontline in the fight for social justice, Martin Luther King Jr. Day marks a great amount of what players are fighting for today, and Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George has been one of the more outspoken ones.

George has never shied away from voicing his concerns with what has occurred in the United States. On MLK Day, he reflected on the interesting dynamic of clamoring for change and standing up for what people believe in (via ESPN).

“I think we saw so many races, so many ethnicities stand up for what was right. I think that’s where I saw the beauty in it.”

The year of 2020 was a very tiring year for many. From dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic while also watching African-Americans being treated unfairly, it has forced the nation to come together and fight for one thing: Equality. George and other NBA players continue to use their platforms to spread awareness across the world, and he acknowledged the fact that many of their fellow athletes are joining their cause.

“I think it's a lot for us to take and run with, but the beauty in it was just to see everybody together in that fight of bringing equality and everyone just being counted and being as equal as the guy next to him.”

Change is a long process, to say the least. But taking steps forward and keeping the conversations alive could fast-track the actualization of social justice.

People should not expect the NBA to stop spreading awareness anytime soon and superstars like Paul George will not stop fighting for what they believe in.
