Los Angeles ClippersRajon Rondo made his debut on Sunday with the Clippers versus his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers. In 13 minutes, Rondo only scored two points and had three assists and one rebound. The Clippers went on to defeat the defending champions, 104-86 and now lead the regular-season matchup 2-0.

In the Lakers’ defense, they were without two of their best players in LeBron James (out with a high ankle sprain) and Anthony Davis. However, the Clippers didn’t take it easy on them. Kawhi Leonard flirted with a triple-double, racking up 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists while George and Luke Kennard had 16 and 15 points respectively.

As for Rondo, he may have hurt his right hip once again during the game. According to LA Times’ Andrew Greif, Rondo grabbed at the area near his right hip after swooping in for his first basket as a member of the Clippers. His injury status hasn’t been released yet, but it doesn’t seem anything too serious. According to Clippers head coach Ty Lue, Rondo has had a significant impact in the locker room already and is learning more about his teammates each day.

Rondo, who came up big for the Lakers in last year’s playoffs, was already given a tribute by the Lakers when they played the Atlanta Hawks last March. The Lakers and Rondo didn’t come to an agreement last off season because it seemed the point guard wanted to get more cash, which he did with the Hawks. Despite moving on from each other, it’s clear that there’s no bad blood between both the Lakers and Rondo.

Even with today’s loss, the Lakers still lead the Clippers 104-55 in their history of regular-season battles.
