There was a little bit more riding on the Los Angeles Clippers' first-round battle with the Golden State Warriors, as this happened to be the final season of legendary Clippers broadcaster Ralph Lawler.

However, with L.A.'s season finally coming to a close on Friday night as they lost out to the defending champions in Game 6 of the series, Lawler went through one final (and emotional) sign off after a 40-year career with the organization.

The Clippers may have not succeeded in extending Lawler's career a little bit longer, but as described by the 81-year-old in his final broadcast, L.A. has done extremely well in outperforming the expectations many had set on them prior to the start of the season. For Lawler, the Clippers merely making the playoffs in his final year is more than a fitting send-off.

After shocking the defending champs with an historic 31-point comeback in Game 2, the Clippers also held off elimination by winning Game 5 in Oakland. Most believed that a superstar-less L.A. side would prove no match to the dynasty-seeking Dubs, but the Clippers proved all their doubters wrong by giving Golden State a proper scare.

The Warriors would make no mistakes in Game 6, though, as they made sure that they would close this series out. Kevin Durant put in one of the most memorable playoffs performances of recent times, as the former MVP winner dropped 38 of his playoffs career-high 50 points in the first half alone.

It was a bitter end for the Clippers, but as what Lawler expressed in his final message, the team have to be extremely proud with the effort they put in not only in this series, but throughout the entirety of this season as well.
