Golden State Warriors superstar small forward Kevin Durant can become an unrestricted free agent after this season ends if he declines his 2019-20 player-option with the Warriors, and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith believes the Los Angeles Clippers, and not the Lakers, have a legitimate shot at signing Durant.

Some around the league think Durant will leave the Warriors after this season, especially if Golden State wins its third-straight title since signing KD back in 2016. Durant has been linked to joining LeBron James and the Lakers as well, but in light of Durant's recent comments about LeBron, that might not be in play anymore.

Kevin Durant took a free agent meeting with the Clippers in 2016 when Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were still on the team. The Clippers have a lot of cap space this summer to not only sign Durant, but to possibly pair him with another superstar player as well. Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler can become unrestricted free agents in the summer.

As with any report, you have to take this with a grain of salt. It's way too early to speculate where Kevin Durant is going to be playing next season. If the Clippers can secure a meeting with Durant, though, the logo himself — Jerry West — will be talking to Durant and trying to convince him to sign with his club. That could be a huge advantage for the Clippers in the Durant sweepstakes.
