Prior to Tuesday's game against the Indiana Pacers, head coach Doc Rivers revealed that he has already agreed to a contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers after coming to closed-door terms with team owner Steve Ballmer earlier this year.

Rivers was rumored to be the top candidate to take over from Luke Walton as coach of the Lakers. However, the 57-year old coach quickly nipped those rumors in the bud.

Ballmer now speaks out after the recent revelation, pointing out that it's great that they were able to put the rumors to rest before it can affect the team.

“We just thought we’d put that (rumor) to bed… There’s no value to us to have that thing cycling.”

The exact details of Rivers' contract extension has yet to be disclosed. But Steve Ballmer's comments on the great body of work that the five-year Clippers head coach has done for the organization is enough evidence that Lob City will remain as Doc's City for the foreseeable future.

Rivers has a winning percentage of 62.3 percent (300-181 record) as the head coach of the Clippers. LA has also finished no worse than second place in the Pacific Division during Rivers' tenure, making the playoffs in four of those five seasons.
