Add Tobias Harris to the loaded list of players who will be free agents next summer after he turned down a four-year, $80 million extension from the Los Angeles Clippers according to David Aldridge of TNT.
Clippers forward @tobias31 turns down $80 million extension offer from team, per sources. Amicable discussions. But he’ll play out final year of his current deal and be UFA next summer, when he’d be eligible for 5 yrs/$188M max from Clips or 4/$145.5 elsewhere.

Don't panic Clippers fans this doesn't mean that Harris will for sure walk after next season, though. It doesn't make sense for Harris to take this extension unless he is worried about an injury that would hurt his value in the upcoming years as our own Clippers beat writer Tomer Azarly points out.
As Aldridge notes, it makes zero sense for Tobias Harris to take the extension when he could be eligible for so much more next summer. With the current #Clippers roster construction, a career year for Tobias is very much a possibility. https://t.co/sVdxj8iA55

It's the same thing that happened with Jimmy Butler a few weeks ago when he was offered a contract extension and turned it down because a bigger extension will be available next offseason.
Harris was traded before the trade deadline last year to the Clippers in a deal that sent Blake Griffin back to the Detroit Pistons.
In 32 games with the Clippers, he averaged 19.3 points and six rebounds. Harris is a good offensive player, but on the defense, he has always seemed to be lacking.
Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant and Kemba Walker will all be free agents next year so there is a chance this actually could turn out to be a bad bet.
Players betting on themselves didn't work out this year for the likes of Jabari Parker and Clint Capela. Capela still hasn't signed an offer sheet, and there is a chance he might only play this season on a one-year deal.
