The Los Angeles Clippers added some depth to their frontcourt on Monday by signing former All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins. The 30-year-old vet put pen to paper on a short-term 10-day deal with the Clippers, but according to coach Tyronn Lue, he hopes to keep Boogie on for the long haul.

Cousins made his debut for LA on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers, and coach Lue had nothing but praise for the two-time All-NBA center, per LA Times' Andrew Greif:

There's no denying that Cousins is now a shadow of his former self. Injuries have played a significant role in his career over the past couple of years, and he is no longer considered to be one of the top bigs in the NBA today.

Nonetheless, Cousins does bring a lot to the table for the Clippers. Aside from providing some quality minutes off the bench (he finished with seven points, four rebounds, and two assists against the Blazers in less than eight minutes of action), Cousins could prove to be a key presence in the locker room.

Boogie spent the first half of last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and while he was unable to take the floor for the Purple & Gold, LA's stars had nothing but praise for Cousins for being a key figure behind the scenes. So much so, that the Lakers organization decided to give him a 2020 championship ring in spite of the fact that he never played a single minute for the Lakers.

Cousins will literally be playing for his career over the next few days with the Clippers. He will need to show coach Lue and the rest of the team what he can bring to the squad. It's not going to be a walk in the park for Cousins, but we hope he is somehow able to revive his career in LA. The man deserves another shot.
