The Los Angeles Clippers are down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals against the Phoenix Suns, but they are not losing hope. Besides, they have a coach in Ty Lue who knows what it takes to come back from such massive deficit.

Lue is in familiar territory as he tries to erase another 3-1 lead, this time in the West Finals and with the Clippers. To recall, the 44-year-old tactician guided LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals against the 73-9 Golden State Warriors–becoming the first team to come back from such massive hole in the championship series.

Now, the Clippers coach is hoping to use what he has learned from that stint in order to help his LA squad make it to the promised land. According to him, aside from taking it one game at a time, they need to take control of the opening quarter and set the tone early, per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

The Clippers, over the past few years, have developed a reputation for choking in the biggest of moments. However, with Ty Lue at the helm and the players developing a stronger mental resilience, that has undoubtedly changed.

Let's not forget that the Clippers have come back from two 2-0 holes en route to the West Finals, and while they are down big this time, it is not impossible for them to win three straight. They did win four in a row against the Utah Jazz in the second round of this playoffs.

Of course, it will be difficult for Lue, especially with his best player Kawhi Leonard still injured and doubtful to return. However, if there is any team who has shown time and time again that no lead is safe in the NBA, it is probably the Clippers.
