L.A. Clippers center DeAndre Jordan has been the subject of a lot of trade rumors the past few months. However, he has remained with his team even with just a few more days left before the deadline on Thursday, despite the interest he is gaining from teams around the league.

One of the roadblocks for a team to trade for him is his contract situation as he could become a free agent by the summer. Teams do not see this as a good sign, as he could turn out to be a very risky loan for them, and could give up assets without the guarantee of him re-signing with them. That was also part of the report made by Zach Lowe of ESPN, as he stated that Jordan would be even more appealing if he opted into his contract for next season.

Interest leaguewide would be higher if Jordan signaled he might opt into his deal for next season, but that hasn't happened, sources say.

Picking up his player option would mean that the team that would trade for him will have him in their fold for at least the entirety of next season, giving them more time to incorporate him in their system and hopefully win it all. The likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Portland Trail Blazers have all been thought of as favorites to land him but all the aforementioned teams could be hesitant to give up assets for him if he won’t stay with them beyond this campaign.

It remains to be seen which team will ultimately land Jordan's services, for what it's worth, he still has a number of teams that would love to bring him in, but that could drastically increase if he opts in ahead of the deadline.
