Having traded their building blocks over the past year in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, the L.A. Clippers are in need of a star player and could soon take a shot at Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is he's made available in the near future.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst in The Hoop Collective podcast, the Clippers would have the right assets to make a viable trade for the young star with three years left in his max contract.

via Bryan Kalbrosky of HoopsHype:

“If they made Bradley Beal available, I mean this is a guy with three years left on his contract, you would have multiple aggressive bids… You know what team that would be interesting for Bradley Beal would be the Clippers. They have two lottery picks. They’re in the need of a star.”

Gambling on Beal would by all means signify the organization giving up on Avery Bradley and not re-signing him (unless there is interest in a sign-and-trade), unable to finish out the season after he underwent surgery to repair adductor and rectus abdominis (groin) muscles.

Beal has been one of the league's best sharpshooters since he was drafted in 2012, topping the 40 percent mark in 3-point shooting in three of his six seasons. He shot a career-low, yet still respectable 37.5 percent from deep this past regular season, but rounded out a solid scoring 22.6 points per game clip with career-highs in rebounds (4.4) and assists (4.5) — developing into a much better all-around player.

Having shot steadily over 45 percent from the field in the last three seasons, there is promise and more than enough evidence that he can carry a team as the leading scorer and if the Wizards choose to part ways, this would be the Clippers' chance to pounce and acquire the marksman.
