The Chicago Bulls will not extend a qualifying offer to guard Kris Dunn, which will make him an unrestricted free agent. The Los Angeles Clippers, among other teams, are reportedly intrigued in the 26-year old defensive-stopper.

“The Bulls plan to not issue a qualifying offer to Kris Dunn,” K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports tweeted on Monday. “The Clippers are among several teams expected to show interest in the soon-to-be-free-agent guard.”

Dunn would have become a restricted free agent had Chicago extended the $7 million offer.

The Clippers rumors should come as no surprise, as the organization has been targeting Dunn since the winter.

“League gossip has existed all season that the Clippers are at least one team that planned to show interest in Kris Dunn this offseason,” Johnson reported in March.

Dunn averaged 7.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game on underwhelming .444/.259/.741 shooting splits in 2019-20 However, he's become one of the tougher defenders of point guards in basketball, and ranked second in the league in steals per game (2.0) behind Ben Simmons.

Dunn's season ended prematurely after he suffered a second strained MCL in February. His injury history could motivate him to seek a multi-year deal.

The Clippers signed Reggie Jackson midway through last season, but he's an unrestricted free agent, too, and Dunn could offer a cheaper option. L.A. is also reportedly exploring the notion of sending guard Lou Williams to the Dallas Mavericks for the no. 18 pick in Wednesday's draft. The Clippers remain a likely landing spot for Rajon Rondo, too.

The Bulls did extend a qualifying offer to Denzel Valentine.
