Tobias Harris will become an unrestricted free agent during the summer of 2019, and the swingman wants to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Harris turned down an $80 million extension offer from the Clippers over the summer. The 26-year-old small forward is making $14.8 million this season and projected to command a max deal in free agency.

Tobias Harris is off to the best start of his career, averaging 21.3 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field over 10 games. The 26-year-old is entering the prime of his career and wants to stay in Los Angeles as he plays in a contract season, sources said. The Clippers had resisted the inclusion of Harris in discussions surrounding Jimmy Butler.

The Clippers acquired Tobias Harris from the Detroit Pistons last year in the Blake Griffin trade. The 6-foot-9 New York native appeared in 32 games with Los Angeles last season and averaged 19.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Harris is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. This season, he's shooting an efficient 53.0 percent from the floor and 42.0 percent from the 3-point line.

Many didn't expect the Clippers to be a playoff team this year, but the play of Tobias Harris has helped LA get off to a 6-4 start.
