After watching Montrezl Harrell walk away in free agency, the L.A. Clippers may turn its attention to unrestricted free agent Tristan Thompson.

According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the 6'9″ center has now become a more viable option for the Clippers as the Lakers have effectively taken themselves out of contention for the veteran's services.

With the Lakers out of the Tristan Thompson mix by signing Montrezl Harrell, the Los Angeles Clippers now become a real possibility for Tristan. A chance to reunite with Tyronn Lue and be in LA.

Such a scenario could reunite Thompson with Tyronn Lue, who was his coach from 2016 to 2018 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two had great success together by virtue of their 2016 championship, where Lue was able to make full use of the big man's defensive versatility.

The Clippers will be hard-pressed to fill the void left by last season's Sixth Man of the Year in Harrell, who averaged 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in 63 games for L.A. in 2019-20.

Tristan Thompson will never be the scorer that Harrell is, but the former is one of the league's best offensive rebounders. In 57 games for the Cavs last season, Thompson averaged a double-double with 12.0 points and 10.1 rebounds.

There's already a logjam for big-man minutes in Cleveland with Andre Drummond, Kevin Love, and Larry Nance Jr. all under contract. However, there is a case for Thompson being the best leader among his Cavs frontcourt mates from 2019-20.

The Canadian center earned $18 million in the final season of his five-year deal signed in 2015. It won't be easy for him to net the same amount, given today's condition. Still, do not forget that he belongs to Klutch Sports' stable.
