Doc Rivers, who been coaching since 1999, handed out some pretty useful advice for his fellow coaches. The L.A. Clipper coach spoke about his friend, fellow coach, and protege  in Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue and his recent health problems.

In part, Rivers said:

“It's going to be okay. We all have to do better. It's funny, I got on Ty today but I was probably talking to myself… Coaches need to sleep more. I know that sounds crazy but we don't we don't sleep. We'd sleep three or four hours, five hours a day during the season and that's not enough.”

Rivers comments come in after Lue released a statement saying that he needs to step back from coaching due to recent health concerns.

Lue's statement read in part:

“After many conversations with our doctors and Koby and much thought given to what is best for the team and my health, I need to step back from coaching for the time being and focus on trying to establish a stronger and healthier foundation from which to coach for the rest of the season.

I have had chest pains and other troubling symptoms, compounded by a loss of sleep, throughout the year. Despite a battery of tests, there have been no conclusions as to what the exact issue is.

Lue has been crucified by fans and critics alike for guiding the Cavaliers to a mediocre season so far. They all have valid reasons to do so. After all, he is coaching LeBron James, the best player in the world today. Anything less than a championship ring is considered a failure.
