Sunday afternoon offered NBA fans a premier showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, featuring a matchup between LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard.

Kawhi and the Clippers got the best of James' Lakers on Christmas Day, when Leonard scored 35 points and added 12 rebounds and five assists for good measure.

ā€œThe Clawā€ had the upper hand on James early on Sunday as well, spinning off LeBron on a post up and flying to the rim for an easy jam:

Though his metrics have declined in recent years, LeBron is still a tremendous defender when the effort is there. But Leonard is establishing himself as one of the best scorers in the game in his own right.

Kawhi is having arguably the finest season of his career, averaging a career-high 26.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists. Leonard has exhibited his improved handle in recent years, and he is almost unstoppable when he rises up for midrange jumpers or turnarounds in the post.

Leonard had 12 points at the half, while James poured in 16 as the Clippers led the Clippers 53-49.
