Los Angeles Clippers fans did not hold back on their feelings for Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin in his first game back against his former team.

Much had been made about Griffin's return to Staples Center to take on the Clippers, and it never seemed to be in doubt that fans would welcome him back with open arms.

Well, a loud round of applause during pregame introductions proved that, as Clippers fans cheered wildly when Griffin was announced.

Griffin also acknowledged the response shortly after the loud ovation.

Obviously, Griffin played a huge role in the franchise's resurgence in the NBA, so it makes sense that fans would show their support for all the great things he did during his time with the team.

Griffin is currently averaging 25.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season for the Pistons, and he'll hope to keep up his impressive play in this particular matchup between the two teams.

As for the Clippers right now, they have been playing very well as they sit at 24-17 on the season entering the game.

Thursday's loss to Denver Nuggets snapped the Clippers' three-game winning streak, but with four straight home games up next, Los Angeles may be able to add even more victories to its total.

After the matchup with the Nuggets, the Clippers will return to the court on Monday to take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
