Fireworks were expected in Thursday night's game at the Staples Center as there's no love lost between Western Conference rivals Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers.

Clearly hyped up facing his former team, Rockets' defensive dynamo Patricky Beverley once again took it upon himself to defend the NBA's best scorer in James Harden.

He got the better of The Beard right before halftime, as he hounded Harden and did not give him an inch of space to make his move. Bothered by Bev's pressure, Harden lost both his dribble and balance as sailed out of bounds and crashed into the stands.

Beverley was visibly fired up after his defensive effort, which preserved LA's 17-point lead at the 1:57 mark of the second. The Clips held a 69-54 advantage at halftime as Harden could only muster seven points and six assists in the first 24 minutes of the ball game.
