Dirk Nowitzki is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. His retirement may be coming soon because of his age, but on Sunday, he showed his fans what he could become once his playing days are over.

After his teammates came off an awful sequence, the 38-year-old German international couldn't help but let them know about it. He took the clipboard from Rick Carlisle and acted as their head coach when he discussed the play with the team.

Carlisle noticeably gave a little smirk as he saw the team's franchise player eager to deliver his point across to the Mavs, proving how much he is respected by his fellow players as they listened to him.

Nowitzki was forced to exit the game against the Milwaukee Bucks as he felt “mild pain” in his achilles and the team did not want to risk further injury. With Dirk still helping the team despite being on the sidelines, it made it possible for the Mavericks to come out with the win on the night, 109-105.

Although Dirk Nowitzki has not made it clear that he wants to coach in the future, his stature and knowledge of the game will definitely boost his chances of doing just that should he decide to pursue it. Nowitzki is a well decorated player and it would be hard to see him not being a successful coach as well.
