Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be revealed soon, and more details are also uncovered by leakers and dataminers.

Back in 2019, Call of Duty fans got to relive one of the franchise’s popular titles “Modern Warfare”. Infinity Ward successfully remastered the classic Call of Duty series and fans are wondering when the remastered sequel is coming. With that being said, here’s everything we know so far about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Release Date

Prominent leaker and industry insider RalphsValve provided fans a potential reveal date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The leaker claims that the first teaser of the game will come out on April 30th. RalphsValve also predicts that fans will get to see a gameplay reveal sometime in May 2022. Players should take this information with a grain of salt. Until Activision makes any official announcements, all these dates are still subject to change.

If you’re unaware, Activision is planning on taking a year off with Call of Duty come 2023. This entails that Infinity Ward might have to release Modern Warfare 2 sometime late in 2022. There’s a lot of pressure on the developers considering they have to create a masterpiece that’ll keep players busy for two years.

Gaming Platforms

While we’re waiting for official announcements from Activision, it’s safe to assume Modern Warfare 2 will likely launch on typical platforms. These gaming systems are namely the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, if we take into consideration Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there’s a slight chance it’ll be an Xbox exclusive. Despite that possibility, we wager that exclusivity rights will only apply after Activision’s first break from developing Call of Duty.

Game Modes

There’s very little information about what game modes could potentially be a part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. So far we’re only aware of the earliest game mode leak that’s similar to Escape From Tarkov. According to Tom Henderson, Infinity Ward is currently developing a grittier version of the game mode.

As of right now, the game mode might be potentially called Demilitarized Zone or DMZ. Tom Henderson also mentioned that DMZ has been in the works since 2018. With that being said, it seems that this ambitious game mode could be the wow factor the franchise needs. For those who are unfamiliar, DMZ’s objective is to accumulate loot within several separate maps, before successfully extracting.

Warzone Integration

When Call of Duty: Warzone first came out, the free-to-play title was directly integrated as one of Modern Warfare’s game modes. Players who owned Modern Warfare automatically had Warzone within the game meaning owners didn’t have to separately download the game mode. Plus, Modern Warfare owners could use their in-game items within Warzone which free-to-play players wish they could acquire.

The next question now is, will Warzone be a playable mode in Modern Warfare 2? There’s a slight chance that this could happen, however, it could be an integration with the rumored Warzone 2. It makes sense to integrate both sequels with one another. While we’re expecting Modern Warfare 2 to come out late 2022, Warzone 2 could potentially release sometime early 2023 before Activision’s break.

There’s still a lot of unanswered questions that Call of Duty fans are just dying to find out. All we can do for now is to wait for any announcements from Activision. Hopefully we get to see some kind of tease before April ends.
