Devastating news has come to the college football world as Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, per FOX Sports and The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

Above all else, this comes as concerning news for the health of the 68-year-old head coach. Saban has become a staple at the University of Alabama after turning their football program into a powerhouse since the mid-2000's. Alabama's athletic director Greg Byrne also tested positive.

The Crimson Tide are currently ranked at No. 2 and are set to face the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night. When and how that changes upon Saban's contraction of COVID-19 remains to be seen.

Alabama was enjoying a 3-0 start to their season after recently besting the Ole Miss Rebels on Oct. 10 with a final score of 63-48. After much hesitation by the NCAA to commence with a college football season that would be focused strictly to in-conference games, Saban became very vocal about the need of a season despite the rumblings of COVID-19.

There've been a number of COVID-19 related situations in the commencing stages of the season, such as the postponement of Saturday's bout between LSU and Florida due to a spike in the Gators' COVID-19 test results.

Alabama enjoyed a moderately successful season in 2019 before being defeated by the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff championship with a final score of 44-16. Upon clearing quarantine and a clean bill of health, Saban and the Tide will look to continue their winning ways throughout the season. As of now, they'll have to do without their legendary coach as they face the Bulldogs on Saturday.
