The Georgia Bulldogs are set to face the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday in the College Football Playoff National Championship. It's time to continue our college football odds series with a Georgia-Alabama National Championship prediction and pick.

Georgia and Alabama will meet for the second time in just over a month, as the Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship in December at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta to keep their title hopes alive. The two sides with meet in Indianapolis this time around as they will take the field in Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday night with everything on the line. Alabama made light work of the Dawgs' No. 1 ranked defense in December, but this time around it may be different as the Tide lost No. 1 WR John Metchie III to a torn ACL in that Dec. game.

Why Georgia Could Cover the Spread

The Bulldogs were the No. 1 team in the country for most of the season until Bama torn them to shreds in the SEC Championship game. Georgia and QB Stetson Bennett IV will be looking for revenge this time around after being beat by Alabama yet again. The Dawgs have led in their last four games vs. Alabama, but are 0-4 over that span. Kirby Smart is part of the Nick Saban coaching tree as he served as his defensive coordinator at a Alabama for years under the legendary coach.

Georgia will need to get over the mental hump of beating Alabama as they have not been able to take them down to this point over the last few years. Bryce Young torched the No. 1 Georgia defense for 41 points, 421 passing yards and four total touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing). Georgia will need a big performance from Bennett IV and weapons like Brock Bowers if they want to take home the win and the title on Monday night.

Georgia vs. the spread

The Bulldogs are 9-5 vs. the spread this season, and 4-0 as a favorite on the road vs. the line. Georgia has covered in three of their last four, with the SEC Championship being the exception. Georgia was a 6-point favorite over Alabama heading into that matchup, and lost 41-24 as Young shredded their defense for nearly 500 yards of offense by himself.

Why Alabama Could Cover the Spread

Alabama is somehow still an underdog heading into this one after Georgia demolished Michigan in the first round of the College Football Playoff. They have Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young under center again for this one, which gives them an edge in the QB matchup the same as it did back in December. Young threw for 4,503 yards and 46 touchdowns this season while throwing just five interceptions.

Jameson Williams will face extra attention from the Georgia defense with Metchie III out, as Williams' numbers as Bama's No. 2 WR are better than most teams No. 1 options. Williams had 75 catches for over 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. Defense however may turn out to be what decides this game for Alabama as they were able to hold Cincinnati to just six points in their first College Football Playoff game. Saban getting points in a big game like this is pretty hard to pass up, to the point it almost seems like a trap.

Alabama vs. the spread

Alabama is 8-6 vs. the spread this season. They have covered comfortably in both of their postseason games this season, and could be poised for another easy cover as underdogs in this one. It will likely be a closer game this time around, as blowing out a team of Georgia's caliber twice in a row will be very difficult. The Bulldogs are loaded with NFL talent on both sides of the ball just like Alabama is. They should be able to give the Crimson Tide a tough battle in the rematch.

Final Georgia-Alabama National Championship Prediction & Pick

This should be a heavy weight fight between what has clearly been proven as the top-two teams in the country. It is simply too hard to fade the greatest college football coach of all-time when he is somehow getting points with another title on the line. If you're putting money on this game, put it on Alabama and Nick Saban, especially when he has the Heisman Trophy winner throwing passes for him.

Final Georgia-Alabama National Championship Prediction & Pick: Alabama +2.5 (-115)
