The Indianapolis Colts have been without linebacker Darius Leonard since Week 2 as a result of a concussion. There's been a misconception that previous statements that he has made to the media were insinuating a consideration of retirement.

In order to dispel those rumors, Leonard took to Twitter on Monday night to put the idea of retirement to rest. He even mentioned that he has a goal of playing 15 years in the NFL and that he's going to take it ‘day by day' to accomplish that.

The cause for the confusion was the quote that Leonard gave to the media after Monday's practice. He mentioned that the headache from his concussion was not going away after three weeks from when he first suffered the injury.

“The first week, I wasn’t thinking about wife and kids, that stuff,” Leonard said, via Jim Ayello of the IndyStar. “I was like OK, ‘I’ve had a concussion before. I’ll get over it.’ Second week, I was like, ‘Ahhh, you know, it’s all right.’ The third week, that’s when I really started thinking, ‘Wait a minute. I got a wife and kid. I’ve had a headache for three weeks now. Will I ever be the same? Do I keep playing?’ I mean you have those thoughts in the back of your head.”

The statement from Leonard on his Twitter account should provide some relief to Colts fans. It wasn't too long ago that former franchise quarterback Andrew Luck announced his retirement at 29 years old due to his ongoing struggle with injuries.

The 24-year-old Leonard is coming off a rookie season that featured an All-Pro First Team nod. He totaled 163 combined tackles, seven sacks, two interceptions, and four forced fumbles last season.
