Indianapolis Colts placekicker Adam Vinatieri recently announced that he would be returning for yet another NFL season in 2019-20. Previously — and infamously — a member of the now Super Bowl-bound New England Patriots earlier in his career, the seasoned placekicker was naturally asked about his rooting interest in Sunday's affair in Atlanta.

A veteran of the game, both on and off the field, Vinatieri had the perfect answer.

“I’m just a fan. … No, that’s a lie,” Vinatieri recently told the Indy Star. “When we’re not in it, I want everybody to lose.”

However, it is very obvious that the veteran special teamer still has some good friends over on the New England sideline.

“If I had to choose from one or the other, there’s a couple of guys over there that I would want to do well,” Vinatieri added. “I know most of Indianapolis and Indiana and Midwest fans are probably cheering on the Rams.”

Vinatieri couldn't really avoid commenting on heralded Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, could he?

“I know he just got done saying he wants to play until he’s 45, and if I’m doing my math right, he’s what? 41 now? That’s another four,” said Vinatieri. “If he in fact plays until he’s 45 and up, he’s probably going to out-do me.”

Though Brady is defying the odds in the age department, Vinatieri isn't too far behind himself. If he were to play four more seasons, Vinatieri would notably be the first NFL player ever to suit up at 50 years old.
