To say that it took a while before Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was able to take the field again would be a massive understatement. When Luck took a snap last Thursday during the Colts’ preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on the road, it marked the first time that he played in a live NFL contest in 585 days.

Coming off such a long absence from the game, Luck understandably got a little fatigued even though he was only briefly used against the Seahawks. The 28-year-old signal-caller admitted that in front of reporters following the contest, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“I was tired, I was exhausted,” Luck told reporters on Monday, according to the team. “I think emotionally I was worn out, and honestly it was probably the redeye home after the game. You know it makes you feel things a little extra, turns the volume up, but I felt physically OK, just energy-wise very low.”

Against the Seahawks, Luck completed six of nine passes for 64 yards in a 19-17 victory, and while he did not score a touchdown, the sight of him participating in a game was enough to relieve Colts fans, who have waited for a long time to see their franchise quarterback healthy and playing again.

Luck’s football hiatus was caused by a shoulder injury he suffered in January of last year — one that also required surgery to repair a torn right labrum.

Andrew Luck and the Colts will look to keep it going next week when they take on the Baltimore Ravens in what could be the quarterback’s first game at Lucas Oil Stadium in over 19 months.
