Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck sustained a calf injury shortly into training camp practice. That injury has been updated, recently, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, via general manager Chris Ballard, that it's been changed from a calf strain to a high ankle injury.

Previously, Colts owner Jim Irsay noted that Luck's injury is similar to former Colts defensive end Raheem Brock. He said this on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday, per ESPN:

“I know everyone's had their questions about Andrew and that sort of thing, but I really feel very confident that he's going to find his way through this thing,” Irsay said. “I think after the [Kevin] Durant thing [that] everyone's erring on the side of caution, but quite frankly this is not even in the Achilles tendon. It's in another area. It's a bone. You know I'm not good at these things… It's a small little bone.”

Irsay referenced Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant's injury in the NBA Finals. The former MVP sat most of the playoffs with an undisclosed calf injury before tearing his Achilles tendon in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

It's unknown if the Colts will play Luck for Week 1 of the NFL regular season. Since the calf injury occurred, the team and reports have been mum about the placement, severity, and cause. However, Luck said he was holding himself out of camp, not just for the injury, but because he'd be average at anything less than 100%.

“To be the best quarterback I can to be — to help this team, like I want to him them — I can’t be, I’m not looking not for average. And, if I’m going out here with pain, I’ll be average. I will feel like an average quarterback and I’ll be an average quarterback. That’s not good enough for me, that’s not good enough for this club,” per the Colts official website.

Luck's injury status is one to watch, considering he missed all of 2017 after undergoing surgery to his throwing shoulder.
