The Indianapolis Colts have officially activated wide receiver Parris Campbell from injured reserve ahead of their Week 18 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Campbell has been out of action since the Colts’ home win over the Houston Texans in Week 6, as he came away from the game with a foot injury suffered following his 51-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.

The Colts later opted to place Campbell on injured reserve, as the second-year wideout agreed to undergo foot surgery. While there was early concern on whether he would be able to suit up again this season, he was at the least provided with a two-to-three-month timeline for when he could make his return to action.

After steady progression with his injury rehab process, the Colts designated Campbell to return from injured reserve on Dec. 30, which then opened up his 21-day window to either be placed on the active roster or be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

The Colts’ decision to now activate Campbell from injured reserve was one that the team did not have to second guess. He has been a regular in practice since his return to the field last week. Colts head coach Frank Reich noted on Wednesday that the former Ohio State star has been “trending in the right direction.”

More so, Reich mentioned on Thursday that Campbell had a “pretty good week” in practice.

In the big picture, Reich is much looking forward to seeing what Campbell’s return to in-game action will bring to the Colts offense.

“He’s dynamic,” Reich said on Wednesday. “I think we’ve seen that in flashes over his career. I think we’ve seen that in flashes this year as well. I just think he’s a dynamic, dynamic player down the field, a dynamic player with the ball in his hands. I think defenses feel his speed and his presence when he’s out there.”

The Colts enter Week 18 needing a win over the Jaguars to clinch a wild-card spot in the AFC.
