Carson Wentz wasn't exactly awful during his one-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts. His statistics were certainly respectable and if it wasn't for that last game of the season where they blew the chance to make the playoffs, Wentz could still be in Indy. But, that is not the reality. Colts GM Jim Irsay even said recently that bringing in the former Eagles QB was a “mistake”. Wentz responded to his comments on Wednesday during an appearance on the Colin Cowherd Podcast.

Via The Score:

“Last year was a really fun year, We did some incredible things, (but) came up short at the end. Obviously, I struggled down the stretch there, and timing was poor. I didn't expect that, I didn't expect things to unfold the way they did, and I thought things were in a pretty good place there.

“I had an awesome relationship with every single person on the Colts, can't say enough good things about the people over there. (Irsay's comment) kind of came out of left field. He's entitled to his own opinion, and he's entitled to do what he wants with his football team.”

Wentz now has a fresh start with the Washington Commanders while the Colts traded for veteran quarterback Matt Ryan. It really seems like the loss to the Jaguars was the last straw for Wentz's short tenure in Indianapolis, with Irsay voicing his displeasure right after the crushing defeat. It's too bad the Carson Wentz era didn't work out, but both parties at least have fresh starts.
