Colin Cowherd has never been shy from sharing not so popular opinions and recently he spoke on MVP front runner Patrick Mahomes and Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

Many would consider this opinion to be very unpopular and considering where both teams stand in the AFC, Cowherd may have swung and missed on this take. Mahomes has 4,543 yards and 45 touchdown passes to this point in the season and the Kansas City Chiefs have already clinched a playoff berth.

Andrew Luck is an exceptional quarterback and will presumably win Comeback Player of the Year as he missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. Luck has thrown for 3,759 yards and 34 touchdowns. The Colts are 7-6 and fighting for a playoff spot as they are firmly behind the Houston Texans in the AFC South, but Luck has been fantastic and has led his team deep into the playoffs in the past.

Patrick Mahomes has been fantastic and while he does have more offensive weapons at his disposal, the season he has put together has been insane. The throws that Mahomes makes, his athleticism, and leadership have been special.

Luck has been special in his own way, but Mahomes doesn't even have 20 games under his belt and how he has carried himself and his team throughout the season has not gone unnoticed.

While Cowherd has a great knowledge for the sport, his opinion is his own and unfortunately the numbers simply do not justify his notions. The MVP race will be a close one, but Mahomes has been leading this race for weeks now.
