Leading the NFL in tackles doesn't mean as much as it used to. In spite of the fact that Indianapolis Colts rookie linebacker Darius Leonard is pacing the league with 146 stops on the season, he was not elected to the Pro Bowl.

As one would expect, Leonard was pretty upset over the news, according to Mike Wells of ESPN.com:

“I was heartbroken at first because I thought I did enough, but it is what it is,” Leonard said.

Leonard also tweeted about the snub shortly after the Pro Bowl rosters were announced:

When asked how bothered he was on a scale of 1-10, Leonard took the high number:

“Twenty, he said. “Just knowing that I put everything on film and still not enough. So I've just got to keep improving.”

Leonard is taking somewhat of a positive approach to the snub, however, aiming for a monstrous 40 tackles in the Colts' upcoming game against the New York Giants.

“He told me he wanted 40 tackles, but I told him it's humanly impossible,” said Indianapolis tight end Eric Ebron, who was named to the Pro Bowl. “He doesn't care… Things like [the Pro Bowl] should really go by statistics rather than names. He's one of the all-time great rookie linebackers statistically in a long time.”

Leonard, who played his collegiate football at South Carolina State, was selected by the Colts in the second round (36th pick overall) of the NFL Draft back in April. In addition to his tackle total, the 23-year-old has posted seven sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles, and a couple of fumble recoveries.

Seriously; with that stat-line, how is Leonard not going to Honolulu?
