Throughout his NFL career, wide receiver Devin Funchess has never switched sides and remained what appeared to be a pivotal piece to the Carolina Panthers organization.

That's about to change, though, as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero broke the news on Monday that Funchess will now be taking his talents to Indianapolis.

As per Pro Football Talk, the Colts are looking to sign the Michigan alum to a one-year deal worth a maximum amount of $13 million.

Funchess had his best season as a pro in 2017, finishing with 63 catches for 840 receiving yards and eight touchdowns (all career-highs). The 24-year-old saw a dip in his production last season, though, with other Carolina receivers such as rookie D.J. Moore and second-year wideout Curtis Samuel starting to eat more and more into Funchess' timeshare on the field.

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will definitely be glad to have Funchess on his side in 2019. As seen in last year's unexpected playoff push, Luck led the Colts offense with massive numbers in the passing game, with big tight end Eric Ebron's coming out party being one of the highlights.

Measuring at 6-foot-5, Funchess would serve as another tall option similar to Ebron for Luck to work with, all the while drawing less heat from opposing defense looking to lock down on top wideout T.Y. Hilton.

As for the Panthers, the loss of Funchess shouldn't hamper the team's development considering the nice strides that young receivers Moore and Samuel have made. Last season, the former finished his rookie campaign with 55 receptions for 788 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while the latter nearly tripled his numbers from 2017 with 65 targets for 39 catches, 494 yards, and five TDs.
