It was a tough season for the Indianapolis Colts and now the franchise aims to improve in 2022. Recently, owner Jim Irsay took some shots at Carson Wentz for his poor performances with the team. They were a bit uncalled for, but perhaps the veteran quarterback sent some shots back towards Irsay.

According to Mike Garafolo, the caption in one of Carson Wentz' sponsored Instagram posts might be a direct shot at the Colts' owner. The caption reads, “Building a higher road,” which is exactly what Jim Irsay should have done instead of trashing the veteran quarterback.

Maybe there is a serious feud between the two, or maybe everybody is reading way too much into this Instagram post (which is also highly likely). Regardless, the timing of the post has generated a ton of speculation as to whether it is a direct shot at Irsay or not.

Jim Irsay was rather vocal about his disappointment in the team after the Colts lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. Wentz has essentially become the scapegoat for the organization. Regardless, Irsay didn't have to trash Carson Wentz the way he did, but it may have prompted this type of response as well.

We'll see how the two do in the upcoming season. The Colts are hoping to make the playoffs with Matt Ryan now leading the way, but their lack of draft picks is concerning for their longevity. Meanwhile, Carson Wentz has another chance to lead a franchise after being traded to the Washington Commanders. We'll see how it plays out, but look for both Indianapolis and Washington to be competitive next season.
