The Indianapolis Colts are giving quarterback Chad Kelly what is probably his last chance. Kelly took advantage of that on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills. He went 13 for 19 through the air, and added on a rushing score. ”

All of this led head coach Frank Reich to speak highly of him postgame, according to Pro Football Talk via the Bills Wire.

“I was happy for Chad, coming home to Buffalo. It was nice that he played well and did some good things that second half. Chad has practiced very well. He and [backup quarterback Phillip Walker] have both practiced well. It was good for Chad to come back after everything he’s been through. He's been A-plus in every way in the locker room so I was glad he had such a good night.”

The locker room comment is especially important for Kelly. He's had his share (more like plethora) of issues in the past. First, he was kicked off of his Clemson team for violating team rules. Kelly then went to East Mississippi Community College before its Last Chance U days. He won the JUCO championship, and earned a scholarship to Ole Miss. He was arrested again during his time at Ole Miss, this time for threatening to shoot up a nightclub.

Despite all this, the Denver Broncos took him as Mr. Irrelevant in the 2017 draft. The former Rebel was promptly hit with another arrest in 2018, this time for trespassing. The Broncos released him, and the Colts have given him what has to be his last chance.

Hopefully, Kelly can put his issues aside and make the Indy roster.
