The Indianapolis Colts enjoyed a bit of a resurgence last season. Regardless, head coach Frank Reich knows they still have their work cut out for themselves if they hope to stay atop the AFC South.

The division has undergone some significant changes this offseason. According to Alex Butler of the United Press International, Reich admits things are looking competitive in the 2019 NFL season:

“The job Mike is doing in Tennessee with that team and us coming down to the last game of the season last year. it really was like a playoff game between our two teams,” Reich said. “And Jacksonville the year before, having the success they had. The division is definitely playing really tough right now.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Reich's comments. The AFC South has proven to be more one of the more competitive divisions in recent years. That does not appear to be changing any time soon.

The Colts have developed into a legitimate contender now that quarterback Andrew Luck is healthy. More importantly, they have managed to surround him with the necessary pieces to take his game and this team to the next level.

Of course, other teams have also started to take steps toward becoming a legitimate contender as well. The Tennessee Titans have long been on the cusp of establishing themselves as a consistent playoff contender and seem adamant about finally reaching double-digit wins in 2019.

Although the Jacksonville Jaguars experienced a huge setback with their disastrous 2018 campaign, the arrival of quarterback Nick Foles and their talented defense still makes them a potential force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans still boast one of the more star-studded rosters in the league. IT will be interesting to see how this division shakes out next season.
