Andrew Luck stunned the Indianapolis Colts—and the entire NFL—when he announced his retirement last weekend, but the Colts seem to be maintaining a positive attitude.

Indianapolis was getting set to enter 2019 as a trendy Super Bowl pick, but now, with Luck gone, the Colts' stock has taken a nosedive.

Still, head coach Frank Reich says the team is not focused on what it could have been and is instead looking toward the future:

“Our eyes are forward,” said Reich, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “As much as we respect [Luck], our eyes are forward.”

Reich added that he spoke with Jacoby Brissett, who is taking over for Luck under center, about the current situation, and he came away feeling very good about the team's status going forward:

“It was just so natural,” Reich said. “Like, there was nothing fake or phony about it. When you back good people in a corner, nobody got scared. Nobody was looking for the exit. … It’s about belief and conviction. … And that’s the kind of players we have. That’s what Jacoby and I were talking about yesterday; that’s what’s going to power us going forward.”

Of course, Brissett is no stranger to starting for the Colts.

Back in 2017, when Luck missed the entire season while recovering from shoulder surgery, Brissett started 15 of the 16 games, throwing for 3,098 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 58.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 81.7.

He may not be Luck, but at least Indy knows it has a competent quarterback in Brissett for 2019 and beyond.
