Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett did not get anywhere near the action he saw last season because Andrew Luck was finally healthy enough to play out an entire season. Luck was fantastic behind a great offensive line, and the emergence of some new playmakers made the Colts a true contender this season.

Unfortunately, Brissett was not responsible for much of the team's success this season, but he does provide great reliability and insurance at the quarterback position. Regardless, the Colts have no desire to part ways with Brissett.

According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Colts GM Chris Ballard does not have intentions of heading into the 2019 season without Brissett as the team's backup quarterback.

“It would take somebody doing something that would blow me away, and it has to be the right thing for the kid, too.”

Brissett only threw four passes this season while appearing in four games throughout the 2018 season. Considering Luck's track record with injuries, it would be in the team's best interest to keep Brissett very close by. Brissett knows the offense and spent the entire 2017 season with the Colts acting as the team's starting quarterback. The third-year quarterback was decent as the team's starter, but he does not possess the talent or playmaking ability in comparison to Luck.

The Colts made leaps and bounds after struggling at the beginning of the season, but they turned things around in a huge way. The offensive line has been their weakest area, but the unit was fantastic this season. The defense played much better in 2018 and ultimately the Colts have a very bright future going forward.
