Through more than the last year, Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Andrew Luck has been working his way back from shoulder surgery that has put a question mark on his career.

However, Luck finally appears to be heading in the right direction with his rehab work as he's hedging toward getting back on the field on some point this offseason. During a recent interview on NFL Network's “Good Morning Football,” general manager Chris Ballard voiced much optimism about the 28-year-old's outlook for the 2018 season.

“I'll say this. He is in a great spot right now. He is strong, working, and is going through the process. We're going into veteran minicamp we are not starting training camp yet. We still have three months to go. He is in an excellent spot and we feel very comfortable about where he is right now and where is going.”

Although Luck has yet to begin officially throwing a football, which is disappointing, he has continued to work on building back his arm strength as well as the flexibility and throwing motion that he had prior to the injury. Keep in mind, it was an ailment that had bothered him for an entire season before he decided to get it operated on back in January 2017.

This continued trend forward for Luck is certainly a positive sign for the franchise that has depended heavily upon him to lead the way when he is on the field. He helped guide the Colts to much success in his first three years have gone to the playoffs in each campaign while taking it a step further each time with the peak being the AFC Championship game.

Luck's great level of influence on the franchise is undoubtedly crucial to the team's long-term success. If he stays on this path toward a full recovery, he should be back on the field on spot in training camp with eyes on being ready for Week 1 of the 2018 campaign.
