The Indianapolis Colts have had a rather quiet offseason thus far, with the exception of trading Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. That changed Wednesday, however, as the Colts struck a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire EDGE rusher Yannick Ngakoue, according to Ian Rapoport.

The trade comes on the heels of the Raiders locking down an agreement with free-agent pass-rusher Chandler Jones, who was let go by the Arizona Cardinals this offseason. With Jones in town, the Raiders felt they'd be better off saving some money by offloading Ngakoue, and the cash-happy Colts were happy to bring in the experienced DE.

The Colts will be sending young cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to the Raiders as part of the deal that is reportedly a player-for-player swap, not involving any draft picks. Ya-Sin was the Colts' second-round pick in 2019, and has featured in 41 games since being drafted, starting 29. The 25-year-old hadn't had the sort of impact Indianapolis had been hoping for when using a second-round pick to grab him, and now the team is cutting ties with him altogether as part of the Ngakoue deal.

Last season in Las Vegas, Ngakoue enjoyed a bounce-back season, starting all 17 games and recording 10.0 sacks. The former Jaguars Pro Bowler recorded two forced fumbles and 28 tackles on the year, alongside 23 QB hits. He's due to make $5 million in base salary in 2022. Ngakoue was due an $8 million roster bonus if still with Las Vegas after March 18, so the decision to cut ties with him on Wednesday makes sense. The 26-year-old was a third-round pick by the Jags in 2016 and has since played in Jacksonville, Baltimore, and Las Vegas.
