Eric Ebron came into the 2019 NFL season with massive expectations after blowing up with a huge season in his first year with the Indianapolis Colts. Many fans were expecting more of the same and Ebron himself was talking about trying to break the NFL tight end touchdown record. That didn't end up happening at all.

Entering Week 13, Ebron's season has already ended due to an ankle injury. He is expected to undergo surgery and will enter free agency on a low note.

According to a report shared by Pro Football Talk, the Colts were caught off guard by Ebron's “unbearable” ankle injury. He used that word to describe the injury when talking to the media and the team doesn't seem to completely buy it.

Frank Reich had no clue that Ebron's injury was serious and the team hadn't talked about his injury at all following their disappointing loss to the Houston Texans. This came out of nowhere and the team will now have to move forward without a big body and weapon for Jacoby Brissett. Jack Doyle will now step into an even bigger role.

With his season coming to an end, Ebron will finish the year with 31 receptions for 375 yards and three touchdowns. He struggled with drops once again this season, which had killed the first chapter of his career with the Detroit Lions. With free agency coming up, it will be interesting to see what Ebron ends up doing.

All of that being said, the Colts will have to move on this season without Ebron and it wouldn't be shocking if they don't bring him back next year.
