The Indianapolis Colts are continuing to do their homework on running backs. A couple days after hosting free agent Spencer Ware, the Colts are turning their attention to the running backs available in this year's draft.

The Colts will bring in Alabama running back Josh Jacobs for a pre-draft visit today, per Adam Caplan of Sirius XM NFL Radio. The Colts were heavily linked to Le'Veon Bell for most of last season, but ultimately decided to pass. They did so in large part due to the emergence of Marlon Mack, who played really well down the stretch.

The Colts also got nice contributions, especially in the passing game, from rookie Nyheim Hines, so running back is no longer a desperate need for them. They also have Jordan Wilkins on the roster, who looked like a nice depth piece last season. But they continue to poke around, and it seems likely they'll add another running back to the mix at some point.

The Colts took a massive step forward under Frank Reich last season, and are looking to build on that success in 2019. The Colts currently own the 26th pick in the draft. Many analysts are currently projecting Jacobs to go sometime in the later part of the first round, so they could be a perfect match for each other.

Jacobs spent three years at Alabama, and never put up massive stats, but scouts love his game. This past season he rushed 120 times for 640 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also added 20 catches for 247 yards and another three touchdowns. It would be somewhat surprising if the Colts invested a first round pick in a back considering what they already have, but they're apparently interested.
