While Jacoby Brissett's future with the Indianapolis Colts is still up in the air, offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni has time to evaluate the veteran signal-caller, praising Brissett for improving his ability to extend plays.

“And that comes with experience, and that comes with playing time,” Sirianni said, via the team’s website. “You know, you see these guys that have been starting at quarterback at some of these franchises for, you know, 15, 16, 17, 18 years — like, there’s nothing those guys haven’t seen, alright? So sometimes it’s brand new, what he sees, but as you build those reps and you build that game experience, that really will speed that up. And that’s nothing but reps, and you get that in practice, and you really get that in games.”

Sirianni, 38, joined the Colts organization as Frank Reich's offensive coordinator in 2018, before that spending years with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Brissett, of course, was thrust back into the starting quarterback role with the Colts in 2019 after Pro-Bowler Andrew Luck suddenly retired last August. Brissett previously helmed Indianapolis' offense when Luck missed the entire 2017 season.

In 15 games last season, Brissett totaled 2,942 passing yards with a 60.9 completion percentage, throwing for 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Colts finished 7-8 while Brissett started, however, and missed the playoffs.

Brissett may be on his way out of Indianapolis, though, with the Colts seeking an upgrade at quarterback, perhaps Tom Brady or Philip Rivers. Brissett signed a two-year deal with the AFC South club last September, so Indy holds the cards at the moment.
