The Indianapolis Colts made a couple of roster moves on Tuesday, including putting a member of their offense on injured reserve. In the days leading up to the first week of the NFL season, the Colts placed tight end, Trey Burton, on injured reserve, per the team's official Twitter account.

Earlier this offseason, the Colts signed Burton following his release from the Chicago Bears. By signing with Indianapolis, Burton reunited with Frank Reich, who was the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016-2017.

Of course, Burton helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2017, throwing a touchdown pass to Nick Foles. After winning the Super Bowl, Burton inked a four-year, $32 million deal with the Bears. In his debut season in Chicago, Burton tallied career-highs in receptions (54), receiving yards (569), and touchdowns (6).

However, after his career year in 2018, Burton was marred by injuries a season ago, playing in just eight games for the Bears. Throughout those eight contests, he notched only 14 catches for 84 yards and zero touchdowns. As a result, Chicago released him, allowing him to sign elsewhere in 2020.

Despite joining the Colts this offseason, Burton suffered a calf strain early in training camp with his new team. Reich iterated that the veteran tight end would miss the first couple of weeks to begin the season. Seeing that he's been placed on injured reserve, it's confirmed he'll miss the first three games for the Colts — at the least.

While Burton heads to injured reserve to begin the season, Indianapolis also claimed defensive tackle, Eli Ankou, off of waivers.
