Following the unforeseen retirement of Andrew Luck last month, the Indianapolis Colts had no choice but to instill their confidence in Jacoby Brissett. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Brissett is signing a two-year extension with the Colts.

A few weeks ago, on what seemed to be a regular Saturday night, the stunning news that Luck retired became the talk of the NFL for days. As a result of his retirement, Brissett was inserted into the starting lineup; with his teammates and coaching staff behind him.

The fourth-year quarterback began his NFL career with the New England Patriots in 2016. Brissett was selected in the third round of the draft by the Patriots out of North Carolina State.

After just one season in New England, Brissett found himself being shipped off to the Colts in 2017. Brissett was acquired to fill in for Luck as he missed the entire 2017 season due to a shoulder/neck injury.

In that season, the young signal-caller amassed 3,098 yards through the air and completed 13 touchdowns. Along with his aerial stats, Brissett also managed to carry it for another 260 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

All in all, Brissett impressed in his only season as a starter and the Colts believe they can win games with him under center this season.

Without a doubt, the new franchise quarterback in Indianapolis has some large shoes to fill.
